Singleton Interiors
Hayley Singleton is an accomplished interior designer with over a decade of experience in interior design and project management for both residential and commercial spaces. Her journey has taken her from the fast-paced design world of New York City—to the charm and elegance of Charleston, where she now calls home! Hayley’s work is deeply influenced by her architectural roots—her father is an architect—and her passion for shaping interiors that reflect the people who live in them. We had the opportunity to learn more about her design philosophy, including her recent work on a coastal-inspired home for a relocating family in Charleston.

Q: What inspired your journey into interior design, and how has your style evolved over the years?
Hayley Singleton: My father is an architect so the building arts came naturally. I realized in school I preferred to focus on developing the interiors of spaces.
Q: Where do you offer your design services?
Hayley Singleton: I offer design services to Charleston, SC and the surrounding areas.
Q: What is your design aesthetic? What unique elements define your style, and how do you incorporate them into your projects?
Hayley Singleton: My design aesthetic is a bright, cheerful, coastal style. I prefer a foundation of clean lines layered with interesting textures and pops of color.
Q: Who is this space for and how did their needs and preferences influence your design choices?
Hayley Singleton: This home was designed for a family relocating to the Charleston area. They wanted to embrace the coastal aesthetic and create spaces that felt comfortable and inviting for their extended family. Organic, natural textures were used to add interest to the spaces and performance fabrics were selected to stand up to daily use.
Q: Take us through the timeline of creating this space. How long did it take from conception to completion, and were there any particularly challenging or rewarding moments along the way?
Hayley Singleton: The home was a new construction project that was completed in about a year. A relatively quick timeline for such a large project, but the clients were wonderfully decisive and made the design process easy. The most rewarding part is always the final installation and seeing everything come together.
Q: Is there a specific element in this space that stands out as your favorite?
Hayley Singleton: The connection between indoor and outdoor spaces in this home is particularly appealing. There is a natural flow from the kitchen and family room to the screened porch living/dining areas.
Q: What fuels your creativity? Are there specific places, experiences, or artists that consistently inspire your work?
Hayley Singleton: Travel definitely fuels my creativity, particularly coastal destinations.
Q: If you could collaborate with any other designer, whether living or historical, who would it be and why?
Hayley Singleton: I've always been a fan of Victoria Hagan's interiors - they are so tailored, inviting and effortlessly beautiful.
