I think any passionate designer’s aesthetic/taste is always evolving
— Jennifer Ferrandi

Q: How long have you been an interior designer?

Jennifer Ferrandi: I have been an interior designer for 25+ years and worked for many of the top firms in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area before starting my own firm, NoMad Design, with my partner, Juanita Gagnard.

Q: What is your design aesthetic?

Jennifer Ferrandi: This is always a tough one as I think any passionate designer’s aesthetic/taste is always evolving. If I had to pinpoint what I’m best known for I would say, timeless approachable interiors that reflect my clients’ personality and home’s location.

Q: Who/Where do you offer your design services to?

Jennifer Ferrandi: We primarily do residential family homes in Phoenix, Scottsdale and Paradise Valley, AZ. However, we have also done homes in Northern AZ and homes out of state. We recently finished projects in Cape Code, MA and Manhattan Beach, CA.

Q: Who is this space for?

Jennifer Ferrandi: This house was built for and by Vista General Construction. I’ve worked with the founder of Vista General, Luke Wilson, on many projects over the last two decades. So, when he decided to build his own house for his family, he asked me to help design and furnish the house. The Wilson’s have two college age kids. They are originally from CA and are very laid-back casual people. The space was designed to provide them with an Arizona version of the laid-back coastal feel they love.

Q: How long did this space take to complete?

Jennifer Ferrandi: I was brought in on this project while the plans were being started so I worked on every aspect of the house for close to 2 years. All the furniture, including this space, was presented and approved in a single meeting which is probably a record.

Q: What is one element you love about this space the most?

Jennifer Ferrandi: The Wilson’s, unlike a lot of families these days, still like to use their dining room daily to eat meals together so they requested an open kitchen, dining room and family room. The kitchen is flooded with natural light with windows on two sides and the addition of a skylight which really makes the view of the golf course from both the counter seating and dining table a focal point. The kitchen was also designed with a pass-through window for easy poolside entertaining.

Q: Where do you get inspiration for designs?

Jennifer Ferrandi: A lot of the inspiration for this house was the client’s personality and love of the CA coastal feel. A major desire for this house was to make it timeless and sophisticated while staying cozy and approachable while enjoying the incredible Arizona weather and views of the golf course.
