I like a space that is ‘warm modern’ with style longevity.

Q: How long have you been an interior designer?

Shannon: I’ve always loved design and creating. I originally trained and worked in the fashion industry. In my teens, I would often change my bedroom furniture or décor or sew a new duvet cover, pillows and drapery for my bedroom. When my babies were young, I decided to retrain in interior design and now, I have been a designer for 6 years. I initially worked for another designer but in the last year, stepped out on my own.

Q: What is your design aesthetic?

Shannon: I am drawn to many different design styles and I like to bring some of those styles together and mix them in a space. I want a space to be inviting, warm, mostly neutral, styled with pieces that I or my client love. I like to add a little luxury element if possible, or a piece of custom furniture. I like a space that is ‘warm modern’ with style longevity.

Q: Where do you get inspiration for designs?

Shannon: The usual Instagram, Pinterest, and my favorite designers. I’m a visual person so I feel like I see inspiration all over. I will see something in a picture that I love but then try to use it in a different way, maybe in a way that’s unexpected. I have a hard time ‘turning off’ my creative thoughts!

Q: Who is this space for?

Shannon: This particular space is for me! And my husband, of course. I have always wanted a bedroom and master bath that felt a little luxurious but comfortable and inviting. A room that also had function with attractive and ample storage so it wasn’t the ‘collect all’ room. Plus, with 3 teens in the house now, a mom needs a place to retreat!

Q: How long did this space take to complete?

Shannon: I think the concept of this room had been in my head for quite some time. We first took out our closet and expanded our master bathroom. Once that reno was complete, I designed the wall closets and had them installed in January. Due to Covid, all the furniture probably took about 6 months to arrive.

Q: What is one element you love in this space the most?

Shannon: I love that it is so functional but has all the style and prettiness I could want.
