Q: How long have you been an interior designer?
Christina Byers: I have been an interior designer for the past 17 years and have slowly built my business while raising my children. I live in a coastal community about 20 miles outside of Manhattan on the north shore of Long Island, and most of my projects are within a 20 minute drive, with the occasional east end project thrown in the mix. Most of my clients are young families or empty nesters finally having the time to devote to their home.
Q: Who do you offer your design services to?
Christina Byers: I’m based out of Port Washington, NY. and have been serving clients on Long Island and in Manhattan for over a decade.
Q: What is your design aesthetic?
Christina Byers: I would say I gravitate towards an updated traditional aesthetic with coastal elements woven throughout.
Q: Who is this space for?
Christina Byers: This space is for a busy family of five with young children and a spunky dog.
Q: How long did this space take to complete?
Christina Byers: The space took about a year and a half to complete as we navigated constantly shifting Covid delays and long lead times.
Q: What is one element you love about this space the most?
Christina Byers: My favorite design element is the board and batten molding that we added to the focal wall in the family room, which took a very plain space and elevated it with show-stopping character.
Q: Where do you get inspiration for designs?
Christina Byers: I am inspired by the coastal landscapes that I’m surrounded by. They are always changing and are inspiration for both color palettes and general mood/tone of the space. The coast is as beautiful in the winter with soft grays and wheat-tones as it is in the summer with shades of blue and green and splashes of color. I love where I live!
